Beyond the Wire tells the story of the Northern Irish Punk movement of the 1970s and 80s. Punk in NI wasn't just about the Undertones and Stiff Little Fingers, in fact they were just the best known. Many very fine bands came out of these times, and in this programme we tell the story of three of Belfast's most popular punk acts - RUDI, RUEFREX and THE OUTCASTS. We also take a look at the non-sectarian nature of punk and the effects the movement on Northern Ireland society.
