Mysterio is a another great story. A racing syndicate that owned him earlier in his career purchased him from his last trainer just to retire him. This fancy guy stands 16h+ and has a lovely demeanor. He retired sound but does have some foot soreness. He'll just need some time for his feet to grow and then he should be good to go! Meet the heart throb at MidAtlantic Horse Rescue. (Posted September 2020).

The Facility
Elusive Hero

ADOPTED...Thank You!

Elusive Hero is a very sane and reasonable 2015 gelding. Standing 16h, this gentleman will have short bit of time off to let chips in his knees settle. The chips are in the upper joint of the knee which is "very forgiving," as our surgeon put it. Surgery was not recommended, just some time off. After a month, he will be ready for low level activities...how many of us plan on more than that anyway? Honestly? See this all-around good guy at MidAtlantic Horse Rescue.

The Facility
Nonna’s Glory

ADOPTED. Thank You!

If you meet this sweet fella, we're pretty sure you won't be able to resist his good nature. Contact New Vocations in PA for more information. (Posted September 2020)

Ducky

ADOPTED...Thank You!

Ducky is as cute as her name! You couldn't ask for a better, all around filly. She is 4 years old, about 15.3h and sweet and quiet. This lady is retiring sound because she was not competitive enough as a racehorse. The trainer's family wanted to keep her as a pony horse but unfortunately weren't in a position to be able to do so. Their loss is your gain! Give this lady a great homeland she'll give you great partnership! Meet her at After the Races. (Posted July 2020)

The Facility
Unnamed- Vancouver x Sanvika

ADOPTED...THANK YOU!

This 2018 filly with no name is a blank, sweet slate! Her suspensory ligaments were getting inflamed during training probably due to the fact that she toes in a little. Her responsible owner and trainer decided to retire her before she ever raced. We didn't get a photo that does her justice but if you are willing give this gal some time off, she should be fine for most disciplines. Contact MidAtlantic Horse Rescue for more information. (Posted July 2020)

The Facility
Elysium

ADOPTED...Thank You!

Elysium has been through the ringer physically but she is one tough, kind lady. This solidly built, 15.2h+ girl had surgery to fix a slab fracture and also has arthritis. When she was finally finished stall rest the other day and able to be turned out in a very small paddock, she promptly escaped and climbed a mountain of millings. There is a picture of her looking majestic up there surveying the landscape to prove it. We are not sure of her prognosis for riding at this time. We are hoping someone will fall in love with her and her lust for life and give her a home as a companion pasture ornament. Contact MidAtlantic Horse Rescue for more information. (Posted June 2020)

The Facility
Live Like Larry

ADOPTED...Thank You!

He should have no hard limitations going forward but will need to be fed on the ground. Give this classy guy by Violence a happy ending and make this a story to be shared.

The Facility
Gallanor

ADPOTED...Thank You!

Gallanor is a quiet, lovely 4 year old filly. This gal had a chip taken out of her knee months ago and is about at the end of her recovery. Wild River

ADOPTED...Thank You!

Wild River is a handsome and very sweet solid chestnut gelding...with the exception of one white ankle. Everyone that has handled and interacted with this horse absolutely loves him! Meet him in person and get a much better look at him at MidAtlantic Horse Rescue. (Posted May 2020)

The Facility

This regal lady has a great personality but is not for a beginner...she does not have bad behavior but she is young and fit. The Facility
Able

ADOPTED...Thank You!
Able is a well-bred, very handsome 16h gelding. Though he does look like a million bucks, he toes in which led to him having a sesamoid fracture in the past. That fracture has completely healed and he even went back into training afterwards. His owner/breeder loves him so much that his confirmation worried her for the high physical demands of racing, so she actually retired him before he ever made it to his first race. His confirmation should not limit him for anything other than racing and upper level eventing. We think he is going to make a wonderful horse for almost anyone. If you are interested in the flashy guy, contact MidAtlantic Horse Rescue. (Posted April 2020)

Kid Jeter is a favorite of this poster. This poor guy took a long time to place because he had a sesamoid fracture. We have seen a number of horses with this injury go on to have very successful second careers. He is not going to be an eventer but there is no reason to think he won't make a fantastic pleasure horse or low-mid level show horse. He has been sound since we first saw him in August of 2019 and had a full year off. Racing all over the east coast this hard-knocking horse made over $105,000. This guy was a barn favorite with personality and a good work ethic. I truly believe someone is going to luck out with him. Meet this catch at MidAtlantic Horse Rescue. (Posted March 2020)
