Union Blues is a classy Stakes Placed, 2014, 16h barn favorite. He has a great work ethic as evidenced by his successful racing career. This gentleman had chips taken out of his right front knee and will make a great partner on the flat...the vets do not feel that jumping is in his best interest. Carysfort Reef is a 16.1h, 2013 fellow that is very deserving of a life of spoiling. After running 34 times he is retiring for a less strenuous job. He has some arthritis in his ankles but the vets say they will fuse a bit and become less bothersome. It really doesn't even bother him now. He will be fine lower level, less strenuous jobs and we think he has the perfect demeanor for this kind of lifestyle. Check him out at MidAtlantic Horse Rescue. (Posted August 2019)

Apolodorodedamasco is a 16.1h 2014 gelding. This tall drink of water, was kind and quiet for evaluation and his picture definitely does not do him justice. He has some soft tissue inflammation in his ankle so he will be turned out for another 30 days. X-rays were taken and there are no bone issues. Reds Winning Call is a handsome, barn favorite. He has a very kind, laid back demeanor. Our Program Administrator got a horse herself from this trainer and the barn foreman said, "this horse is nicer than the one you got!" That is saying something! Buffgirl is an absolute beauty. After racing, she was a broodmare. Unfortunately, she had a tendency to colic when she was pregnant so after a surgery her owner decided not to breed her again. She is now up for her 3rd career. This lady retired from racing sound and has know known injuries. She will have a thorough veterinarian evaluation before going back into training. Pleiadian better known as P-Money as around the track, is one handsome and athletic guy. His racing owner bought him back from his last connections just to retire him. The athlete made over $375,000 during his racing career and has a lovely personality. A vet here at the track was pleasantly surprised with how good they looked. He has had a long career as he was born in 2010. He has some minor swelling before he left the track and will have a month off but no hard limitations are anticipated. As you cans see, Astro Pop Kid is an eye catching guy! You don't see too many gray roans but we have one available! We wish we could've gotten a better picture but you can tell how cute he is. The sweet 2016 gelding is by Lemon Drop Kid. unfortunately, he bowed a tendon and will need 6 month off. Belle N Tonic is a wonderful filly loved by all who meet her. Her vet at the track was particularly fond of her and commented on what a nice mover she and what a great disposition she has. "Belle" also has white on her face which adds to her attractiveness. She is 4 years old and currently stands about 15.2h and may continue to grow a bit. Unfortunately, she sustained a condylar fracture which was repaired at New Bolton Center. Her prognosis is good for almost all low level disciplines. This young guy has yet to be named. He is by Lookin' At Lucky and currently stands 15.3h. No Name is retiring sound but really needed some more time to grow up physically. His owner/breeder Olympian Bode Miller, felt that even with time, he probably was never going to be very competitive on the track. His loss is your gain! Patriot Saint is an all around great guy. Hi is 16h and has a kind personality. He has no hard limitations though he was having some minor lameness issues in his left hind leg. He has been thoroughly evaluated and x-ray'd and the vets believe he probably just had some soft tissue soreness that will resolve with a month or so off. He was sound for evaluation. Trion Wings is a very handsome guy as you can see. He currently measures about 15.3h but at 3 years old, he is very likely to grow more. He is also still a colt but will be gelded before adoption. Keep him on your radar...he is going to need a few months of recovery time as he just had chips removed from both knees, but the good news is the surgeon said the joints are in good condition. La Zoraya is a petite mare standing about 15.1h. She has a kind disposition and shows athleticism but just wasn't fast enough to keep racing. She only won 2 out of 26 starts. She does have a small chip in the upper joint of her left knee which should be no problem for the majority of riding pursuits. Two vets have looked at her x-rays and agree she does not need surgery. Orbiter is a big, good looking fella as you can see, though he has not been groomed in this picture. He is a 16.1h, 5 year old gelding by Smarty Jones. According to our surgeon, Double the Cheers has "personality plus...he's a really cool guy." The 16h, 7 year old gelding has a lovely build and a perky, neat personality to go with. He just had a relatively minor suspensory procedure and is anticipated to recover without limitation. The surgeon said he could see him being an eventer. Kitchen Soup is a frisky, sound guy that is retiring at the age of 3. He is over 16h and just wasn't a fast enough racehorse for his owner to want to continue on with him. Instead, he decided an early retirement from racing was in order so that he could go on to compete in something that is more up his alley. He may mellow out the more he is turned out but he is currently "on the muscle" from his racing career. Mr. Tilch is a big, handsome 3 yr old gentleman thats stands about 16.2h. Everyone that has handled this guy thinks he's a real sweetheart. He is flashy with his four white legs and blaze. This beautiful, sweet gal retired awhile ago and waited patiently for a spot at one of our aftercare facilities. She really deserves the best of homes. Saint Mistress was a hard worker at the track and developed some arthritis in her right front fetlock. She will be a bit limited...we don't see much jumping in her future but she should be fine for flatwork and an occasional cross rail. Unfortunately, he has some issues with his ankles and probably will not be a jumper, but he will be a great all around horse that can be ridden without issue on the flat. She has a laid back personality and we could see her being a low level all around horse, pleasure horse or possibly a polo horse with her petite size. Rightupyouralley is a sweet 2015 filly that hit the board in half of her starts. She stands at least 15.2 hand and has a nice, solid build. "Ali" had surgery to remove chips from her knees and will need some time to recover. She will be rideable and suitable for anything other than upper level, strenuous work. Secret Cape is a handsome 16h, 2015 gelding by superstar Cape Blanco(IRE). He has a few chips in an area of left front knee but both the track veterinarian and surgeon agreed that they are not causing any real problems and do not need to be removed. He never hit the board as a racehorse in any of his ten starts but we believe his strengths lie elsewhere. He has a sensible demeanor and flashy, good looks. Vinny Gorgeous is a gorgeous filly...unfortunately we could not take her out of her stall to get a decent picture. She did have a fracture in her right hind pastern that was just repaired. She will have sometime off to recover and has an excellent prognosis for a second career. She is at least 15.3h, 2014 model. Her trainer said "She is very good to ride and sweet in her stall." Art of Listening is a fantastic 2015 gelding by Artie Schiller. This 16h guy simply hated racing and life at the track. His owner and trainer saw his lack of enthusiasm and knew he needed a career change. Artie is completely sound and ready to roll. This horse...he is it. Never Gone South is a 2013, 16h+ Graded Stakes Placed and a Multiple Stakes Winner by Munnings. Need we say more? His career ended when he sustained a LF condylar fracture which was repaired. If you are not familiar with the injury, please do some research as it is literally a non-issue...he is completely sound and has no limitations. He is as good as new. In His Forever Home!

Devil's Passion is a 20 year old gelding...that's right...20! He was a pony horse and no one quite knew how old he was. With a little research, we found out that this fit, young looking guy is actually 20. He is not available for adoption but we wanted people to enjoy another success story. This guy is going to be semi-retired and will help out a bit in a therapy program at TAA accredited Brook Hill Farm in VA. He is sound, but it's time for him to enjoy the good life and work less. Our Wild Wives is a favorite of everyone she meets. She currently stands 15.2h and is still growing as she is only 2 going on 3 years old. A fracture in her foot put an end to her short racing career. She is currently recovering and is sound which is a great sign! El Guerrero Azteca is a big, sweet colt. He had a serious case of "seconditis" running 21 times and never winning, though he was second nine times. This 3 year old gentleman has a "cracked shin" which has been evaluated by a vet. He will need a few months off to let it heal, but no limitations are anticipated after recovery. Little Big Lou is the sweetest 3 year old colt you will ever meet! He had surgery on his knees to remove chips and even the surgeon said "he stole our hearts." You will not meet a kinder, more gentle, snuggler than this 17h gentlemen. "Lou" will most likely be limited to flat work but he has a personality and demeanor that is well suited to dressage and pleasure and trail riding.
